This course builds on the module EXFLL1 and EXFLL2 and provides students with a better understanding of friluftsliv and how it is related to outdoor education and recreation in the student's home country. The course provides the students with an opportunity to identify, explore, compare and reflect on a topic of special interest, by developing a research project. The project should address one or more of the following: cultural, historical, or pedagogical issues.

Students shall:

• be able to demonstrate an understanding of, and critically analyse with reference to relevant theory, cross-cultural similarities and differences in friluftsliv and outdoor education and recreation
• be able to demonstrate applied understanding of research processes and scientific knowledge construction
• be able to demonstrate enhanced skills for academic writing and presentation

The project consists of a self-organised research study and development of an academic presentation. The work is to be carried out individually or in small groups, as decided by the teaching staff. There will be classroom sessions including lectures, presentations by students and group discussions. In addition, each group/student is given 3 hours of guidance related to the chosen topic, research questions and design, theoretical approach, and relevant literature.

Students must submit and present an academic presentation of the chosen topic. All sources must be accurately cited and referenced using APA format(cf. www.nih.no). The presentation is graded A-F.

All papers submitted via Inspera will be run through Ephorus for plagiarism control.
