( Foundations of Sport and Exercise Psychology )

Innledning

The objective of the course is to give the student the basic understanding of the possibilities and dynamics of psychology when it is applied to sport and exercise. In addition, the student will learn the psychological bases underpinning individual difference variables in sport and exercise, and understand the experiences of children in sport.

Mål

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  1. Describe what sport and exercise psychology is and understand what sport and exercise specialists do;
  2. Describe personality and discuss major approaches to personality;
  3. Describe and discuss the nature and major sources of stress and anxiety;
  4. Define and understand the process of motivation and its underlying constructs;
  5. Describe means through which motivation can be enhanced;
  6. Understand the concept of gender and the source of gender differences in sport and exercise;
  7. Discuss the determinants of cheating and how cheating can be lessened in sport;
  8. Understand and enhance moral development through sport.

Vurdering

Written two hours examination, graded.
Evaluation of group projects: Pass-fail.
